In the Compton Verney exhibition Troublemakers and Prophets: Elizabeth Allen and Other Visionary Artists, Rita Keegan is represented through the Rita Keegan Archive Project’s collaborative textile work Social Fabric. The piece brings together patchwork contributions from a wide network of artists, friends, and family, reflecting Keegan’s long-standing interest in community, memory, and Black feminist histories. Working across print, photography, film, textiles, and installation, Keegan often explores identity, self-fashioning, and the representation of Black women through personal and archival material. In this exhibition, Social Fabric sits alongside other visionary artists’ works, emphasising collective making and the power of shared histories as a form of resistance and celebration.
The exhibition is now open until 31 August 2026.
