Niru Ratnam brings together the work of British-Egyptian artist Adham Faramawy and Mexican-Irish artist Alicia Reyes McNamara. Together the presentation explores visual and conceptual strategies of navigating diasporic identity and the process of articulating minority subjectivities within liminal and contested spaces.
The work of both artists presented in the booth meditates on the legacy of cultural heritage as a lived experience in the diaspora. Each artist explores the way the visual history of the cultures they grew up in are not as fixed as they are often presented and how identity is an ongoing process.
