Adham Faramawy shortlisted for the Circa Prize 2025

Screening: 1 September 2025

Adham Faramawy has been shortlisted for the Circa Prize 2025.  Their nominated work 'A Proposal for a Parakeet’s Garden' will be shown at Piccadilly Circus on 1 September 2025.   The winner of the prize will be announced on the 13 October 2025 and is selected by a distinguished jury including Björk, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Michèle Lamy and Ebony L.Haynes, and will receive a £30,000 prize. An additional £10,000, powered by Piccadilly Lights, will be awarded to the artist with the most online public votes.

In response to the CIRCA 20:25 manifesto, REFUGIA, 30 finalists were selected by the CURATORS’ CIRCLE including Amal Khalaf, Ben Broome, and Samantha Ozer. Deriving from over 25 countries, including Brazil, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, the 30 finalists represent a diverse array of perspectives on reworlding, transformation and the creation of ecosystems for resistance.

Spanning performance, short films, AI-generated pieces, animation, fiction, and documentary, the finalists of the CIRCA PRIZE 2025 reimagine refuge through the body, memory, the migration of birds, and speculative and imagined topographies. Through a walk or dance that refuses conformity, refugia takes many forms. It can be the slow weaving of a community across borders, a ritual that protects fragile futures, or an archive of songs and seeds passed down through generations.
