Adham Faramawy in conversation with Kostas Stasinopoulos

Adham Faramawy will be inconversation with the writer and curator Kostas Stasinopoulos at No 9. Cork Street to mark the Frieze London Artist Award 2023.  

 

Kostas Stasinopoulos is a curator and writer working at the intersection of art, ecology and identity. Curator, Live Programmes at Serpentine, London, Kostas Stasinopoulos is focusing on live and interdisciplinary programmes. He served as Associate Curator at The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center and has collaborated with the Whitechapel Gallery, White Cube, Frieze and the Athens Biennale. Kostas received his PhD in History of Art from University of York (2016) funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the Onassis Foundation and NEON. He holds an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art (2011) and a BSc in Biochemistry from Imperial College London (2004). Together with Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, Serpentine, he is the co-editor of 140 Artists' Ideas for Planet Earth (Penguin, 2021).

Adham Faramawy is an artist of Egyptian descent based in London. Their work spans media including moving image, sculptural installation, photography, print and painting, engaging with concerns of materiality, touch, the body and toxicity to question ideas of the natural in relation to marginalised communities. Faramawy has screened work at the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tate Modern and Tate Britain, London; Serpentine Gallery, London and Serpentine Ecologies Symposia, London. Their recent exhibitions include Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Arts, London; Somerset House, London; Buffalo University Gallery, Buffalo; The Bemis Center, Omaha; Niru Ratnam Gallery, London (solo), and Cell Projects, London (solo). They were shortlisted for the Film London Jarman Award 2017 and 2021.
